A Lancashire mill, three generations on

“The story began nearly 100 years ago when my Grandfather moved over the border from Yorkshire to Lancashire to manage a mill.”

In 1927 John Ball scraped together the resources to buy a failing mill and turned it around. His daughter Kathleen carried it through the collapse of UK weaving — and when the cloth stopped being woven here, the family started making thread instead. Today Christine and Charles are at the helm, with the next generation already finding their feet in the warehouse.
