Jersey Fabric Information

Mid weight Jersey Fabric with impeccable print quality. Extremely high cotton content ensures the fabric has a lovely feel.

Created with only 5% Elastane meaning although the fabric does have stretch and will provided a fitted finish it is not overly stretchy and is a little easier to handle than ultra stretch options.

We describe this as a: Mid Weight Jersey (200gsm).
As a rough guide lightweight options come in at 100 - 140gsm mark. At the 200gsm weight the fabric is ideal for dressmaking through to tops and t-shirts.

The manufacturer advises the following care instructions however we always advise testing a small piece first to make sure you are 100% happy.

Washable at 30°
Iron Setting 1, Max Temp 100°c

Needles - Stitch with Jersey Ballpoint Machine Needles. The ball of the needle parts the Jersey fibres rather than piercing them to help ensure the elastic quality remain intact.

Thread - Stitch with Empress General Purpose Thread, this is a poly/cotton fibre. Alternatively if you would prefer to work with a pure cotton option Empress 100% Cotton Thread will also stitch perfectly.

Interfacing - Vlieseline (Vilene) Stretch Interfacings are created especially for working with fabrics such as Jersey. They add a little more body to make sewing easier.
