\"Bonded<\/a>Bonded Nylon is a very, very, very resilient thread yet, to say how strong it is, it is relatively fine. To achieve the same strength in a 100% cotton or even a polyester\/cotton, the thread would be as thick as string! This means that you will only have to use a \u2018jeans\u2019 needle and nothing heavier.<\/p>\n

Up to the very final stage of manufacture it is produced just like a traditional thread \u2013 the plies\/strands are twisted evenly together. However the big difference and the part that adds the exclusive properties, comes at the Finishing Stages. Instead of just a normal lubricant, a Bonding Agent is applied. This special substance actually adheres so closely to the thread that the plies are \u2018bonded\u2019 together.<\/p>\n

The coating agent completely stops any movement of the twist whilst sewing. As discussed in the First Threads In Focus, this movement of the twisted plies causes snags, snarls and ultimately snapping.<\/p>\n

The thread simply glides through any very stressful seam \u2013 like on fur fabric (hence \u2018teddy bear thread\u2019) and of course this means it is also ideal for vinyls, leather and heavy furnishing fabrics. In industry it is used on furniture, shoes, trainers etc.<\/p>\n

\"Sewing<\/a>UV Rays<\/h3>\n

This is a completely non biodegradable thread. So please, please, please don\u2019t use it in the garden for tying up your veg or sweet peas \u2013 however strong and fine it is \u2013 it will never compost down \u2013 farmers have been banned for years from using it to mark out crop fields as it will simply never go away!<\/p>\n

Bonded Nylon thread is a first class example of the flexibility of an industrial, synthetic thread. It has so many uses in a more domestic environment.<\/p>\n

It will not rot in sunlight or sea water so is super for awnings or boats (from sails to seat covers) and is also ideal for patio\/garden furniture and as already mentioned for fur fabrics plus vinyls, canvas etc.<\/p>\n
