From Glasgow to Bournemouth, sewing enthusiasts travelled from across the UK to join us at Empress Mills for our Autumn Sewing Event Day on Saturday 10th October.<\/p>\n

More than 300 visitors joined us at our Lancashire Warehouse Shop for a day of demonstrations, creative inspiration, new launches and the chance to meet some of the sewing industry’s leading experts.<\/p>\n

With visitors travelling from East Yorkshire, North Wales and plenty of places in between, it was fantastic to see so many people making the journey to Colne.<\/p>\n

The Warehouse Shop was absolutely buzzing throughout the day, with visitors gathering around demonstrations, exploring the new ranges and chatting about their latest projects.<\/p>\n

A Wonderful Day of Sewing and Inspiration<\/h3>\n

We were incredibly lucky to welcome Per from Vlieseline, who travelled from Denmark especially for the event. A global leader in the world of interfacings, Per was joined by Janet and Nicola from Vlieseline, alongside our own Christine and Sheila.<\/p>\n

It was a rare opportunity for visitors to talk directly to people working at the highest levels of the interfacing industry, ask questions about their own projects and learn more about the enormous range of products and techniques available.<\/p>\n

Between them, our demonstrators covered everything from dressmaking and embroidery to bag making, creative interfacings and plenty more.<\/p>\n

One particularly popular demonstration came from Sheila, who was showing how wadding strips can be used to create fabric tubing for jelly roll rugs and other creative projects. We’ve already received lots of enquiries asking for more demonstrations on this technique!<\/p>\n

Bag making was another popular subject, while Per spent much of the day helping visitors understand how to choose the right interfacing for particular projects.<\/p>\n

Winter Wonderland Opens Its Doors<\/h3>\n

The Event Day also marked the launch of our Empress Winter Wonderland, bringing together festive fabrics, kits, decorations and plenty of Christmas sewing inspiration.<\/p>\n

We had great fun preparing this area of the shop, particularly putting together the decorations and festive lighting, so it was lovely to hear so many positive comments from visitors.<\/p>\n

There were also refreshed areas around the Warehouse Shop and lots of new arrivals to explore, making it a particularly busy day across Empress!<\/p>\n

Thank You for Making It Such a Special Day<\/h3>\n

For us, one of the nicest things about our Event Days is seeing so many people come together through a shared interest in sewing and creativity.<\/p>\n

“The shop just felt alive,” said Christine. “There’s something wonderful about bringing so many people together who share the same creative interests. Everyone was chatting, exchanging ideas and enjoying themselves. It’s exactly the sort of atmosphere we love at our Event Days.”<\/p>\n

“We’ve always wanted a visit to Empress to be about more than simply coming to buy fabric. Of course we’re a business, but we want people to discover new ideas, meet interesting people, enjoy their visit and leave feeling inspired for their next project.<\/p>\n

“That’s exactly what we’re working towards with days like this. We want people to enjoy their time at Empress just as much as we want them to enjoy their sewing.”<\/p>\n

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us, to our wonderful visiting demonstrators and to the whole Empress team for helping make the day such a success.<\/p>\n
