\"\"A few thoughts on one of the Fabrics Of The Moment!<\/p>\n

Meaning loop or curl in French and pronounced Boo-Clay. Boucle has been popular since the 1950s when Coco Chanel changed her ubiquitous tweed styles into this soft, textured material.<\/p>\n

Since then it has never really been out of fashion and never more ‘in’ than now.<\/p>\n

Chanel’s fabrics have always had the mark of luxury incorporating expensive yarns of silk, pure wools, linen and metallics but we now have the technology to produce the ‘look’ at a fraction of the cost.<\/p>\n

Boucle is manufactured by weaving with a 2 or 3 strand yarn with one of the strands being looser than the others. This strand creates the softly curled, nubby loop while the other part of the yarn gives a well-woven, firm base to the fabric.<\/p>\n

The Chanel trend is back in force with copycat jackets being worn as formal wear right through to everyday wear with jeans.<\/p>\n
